Consumers need to be more aware of regular milking. Because, in the daily diet, one cup of milk will ensure the nutrition of the consumers. Besides, the farmers-Khamrari market will also be expanded.

The speakers said this at a roundtable titled 'Affordable Nutrient Enhancement through Local Dairy Sector Development' at the Prothom-alo office of Karwan Bazar in the capital on Wednesday. Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Kazi Wahid Uddin said that everybody should be able to add regular milk to their diet. This habit will increase. Nutrition will be ensured and the Khamarias will also live. Reduced imported fodder prices will also reduce prices.

Director General of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute Nathuram Sarkar said, bringing the improved variety of cows to the world can be nurtured in a domestic way. The Livestock Research Institute is working on the development of genetically grown cow varieties. But the biggest challenge is the marketing side.

Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) president Golam Rahman said, the quantity of milk that people need to eat daily is not eaten. This deficit can be reduced by increasing imports or production. But if the import duty on milk is reduced, then the long term will not be favorable to the farmers. Increasing production of milk will reduce milk prices.

Morshed Ahmed, a member of Bangladesh Safe Food Authority said that in the last few months news has received news about the presence of more antibiotic and heavy metals than the tolerable levels of milk. To ensure safe milk production, it will be monitored from the production stage.

Professor Khan Md of the Department of Veterinary Science (BHU) of Bangladesh Agricultural University Saiful Islam said, to keep small peasants, they would have to give improved cattle. Produced milk products should also be made.

Mohammad Aashikul Islam, professor of Dairy Science Department of Bangladesh Agricultural University said that people of the country are not buying milk and they buy energy drinks with the money. Both cost the same amount of money. So everyone has to be aware.

Director of Livestock Department ABM Khaleduzzaman said that there will be 58,000 farms across the country. 70 percent of these farms cost the cost of collecting fodder. The government is working on import duty-free fodder from the Ministry of Livestock.

Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, Additional General Manager of Milk Producers Co-Operative Union Limited said, if the population of Dhaka gets milk by 1 cup a day, then about 10 lakh liters of milk per day is needed daily. But 5 lakh liters of milk is not sold in Dhaka, Chittagong city matches. Eating at least 1 cup of milk per day should be eaten. Because, there is no substitute for milk as animal protein.

Bangladesh Dairy Firmers Association Secretary General Shah Emran said that in the past five years there has been incredible success in the dairy sector. But better technology, better quality animal needs.

Former Member of Parliament and National Dairy Development Forum Umme Kulsum said, Nutritious matter comes to ensure sustainable development targets (SDGs). And milk is an important food for nutrients. In any case, import of milk from abroad is not desirable. The country's bazaars will be discouraged.
